NEBOSH Diploma in Environmental Management

The NEBOSH Environmental Diploma extends and enhances the knowledge and competence of the health and safety manager to give a professional, nationally recognised qualification in environmental management.

Many companies are using environmental standards and environmental management systems and need qualified environmental managers to support these initiatives. Many are using environmental management to be a deciding factor for tendering of contracts.

The impact of environmental management, like health and safety management, is far reaching and organisations have to conform to environmental issues from moral, financial and legal demands.
Environmental legislation is criminal and the Environment Agency is a very active enforcement office. The opportunities for careers ending in senior management roles within environmental management are ever growing.

This Diploma will facilitiate individuals charged with environmental management responsibilities to discharge their duties successfully and to meet the demands of developing and operating environmental management systems to the benefit of the organisation.

Is this qualification recognised?

Holders of this qualification may use the designatory letters EnvDipNEBOSH after their name.  IOSH CPD Participants may allocate CPD credits for attendance at this course.

Assessment

The system of assessment for the NEBOSH Environmental Diploma includes a practical requirement and examination. The practical component [the project] is marked and commented upon by Woodward and is externally moderated by NEBOSH.

The project will be workplace-based involving an environmental audit of the activities of the organisation.

The written examination consists of an externally set and externally marked paper of 3 hours duration in which 5 questions out of a choice of 8 must be attempted.

The weighting of the overall assessment is 75% for the written examination and 25% for the project.

Candidates must achieve the pass standard in both parts of the assessment (the written examination and the project) to be awarded the Environmental Diploma. Referrals in individual parts will normally be granted.
